The specialization "Sustainability and Corporations" offers a variety of courses which will teach you the skills described above. Lectures on advanced energy economics, development economics, sustainable corporate management, sustainable value chain networks, production management and sustainability management, environmental economics, economic and social history and history of technology, and business ethics play a key role, and may be regarded as the core content of this specialization area. Therefore, we particularly recommend that you attend these lectures. Of course, you are free to create your own personal study plan and to select other lectures offered. In addition, a project module on the topic of "Sustainability and Corporations", worth 10 ECTS points, is to be completed. Other possible topics of project modules include such diverse areas as real estate development, performance analysis, e-mobility and new mobility concepts, or energy, mobility, and the environment from a historical perspective. In order for us to react to current developments with regard to the topics addressed by our project modules, the exact contents of this module category are subject to change. For this reason, we do not provide a list of project modules in this description, but you will find an updated list in the online system CAMPUS RWTH Aachen (www.campus-rwth-aachen.de). The figure provides an exemplified study plan, based on the core courses and is to be understood a nonbinding recommendation.

Here, it is assumed that you are attending all courses of the general mandatory modules and that within the framework of the general mandatory elective modules you will select courses that are also part of the supplementary area of the specialization "Sustainability and Corporations". Two other of the general mandatory elective modules can still be freely chosen. These are outlined in red in the figure.

As already mentioned, "Sustainability and Corporations" also offers the option of taking a variety of other courses rather than those mentioned above, so that students can select contents that suit their own individual interests and career ambitions. This means that, you will have the opportunity to develop you’re your competencies in economic and environmental studies as well as your social skills. In the figure, we assume that you will be refraining from selecting the lecture on Value Chain Management (“Wertschöpfungscontrolling”), which is available in the supplementary area and in general mandatory area, in favor of other courses. You can adjust your individual study schedule by selecting Value Chains Management (“Wertschöpfungscontrolling”) instead of Corporate Evaluation (“Unternehmensbewertung”) in your second semester, or Behavioral Management Accounting instead of International Economics (“Internationale Wirtschaftsbeziehungen”) in your fourth semester.

Please note that the modules of the Research Area EME, which are also allocated to the general mandatory elective modules, can be accredited either in that area or in the area of specialization "Sustainability and Corporations", but of course not simultaneously in both.

To help you with your selection, we will briefly describe the course contents. If a lecture is offered in English (and not in German), this is explicitly indicated.
