Profile

From 1988-1997 Bernd Kreuzer underwent a professional training as a translator for French and Spanish and completed his Master in History at the University of Vienna, as well as his studies in Spatial and Regional Planning at the Vienna University of Technology. This was followed, in 2007, by the doctorate in History including a dissertation on the history of motorways in Austria at the University of Vienna, and 2015 by the habilitation in Social and Economic History just as being bestowed the venia docendi as private lecturer for this special field at the University of Linz (Austria).

Until now, Bernd Kreuzer has worked in different positions at the University of Linz and the ETH Zurich, furthermore his various teaching assignments took him to Innsbruck, Salzburg and Vienna. Since January 2016, he has been working as an interim senior lecturer at the Research Unit Economic and Social History and History of Technology at the RWTH Aachen, where he is also the institute’s deputy manager.

His teaching and research focuses include the following:
Economic and Social History, History of Technology, History of Transport and Mobility, Urban History, Architectural and Planning History, Tourism History and History of Energy.
